Our Story
It was a hot August afternoon when a congenial handshake over snacks and drinks opened the Loudoun Branch of the American Friends of Lafayette (AFL). Months later a new committee formalized over coffee and pastries. Shortly thereafter Zoom introductions were made. (Sadly, without food.) Later still, the AFL rolled out its welcome package and Bicentennial Structure. (Again, no food.) Still, it was big! And exciting! And a little overwhelming, but fun. Now we're actively collaborating with the best of Loudoun on a year-long celebration of the County, you, and Lafayette! We do still meet online but we like in-person, too. The chatting, and collaborating over food is a good trend. You should join...

National Organization
The American Friends of Lafayette (AFL) is our parents organization. The AFL organization is dedicated to preserving the legacy and ideals of the French leader Marquis de Lafayette. They focus on researching the historical connection between the United States and France during the American War for Independence. To preserve history and fostering community, AFL members attended various activities such as annual meetings, lectures, book donations, statue erections, and participation in events like the Yorktown Victory Celebration.
